Prof. Dr. Andrea Pinotti
Andrea Pinotti is Professor of Aesthetics at the University of Milan. His research focuses on: image theories and visual culture studies; collective and social memory in connection to memorialisation and monumentality; psychological and phenomenological aesthetics; empathy theories. He has been fellow of various international institutions (among which the Italian Academy at Columbia University, the Warburg Institute in London, the Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung in Berlin, the Institut d’études avancées in Paris). Among his recent publications the volumes „Empathie. Histoire d’une idée de Platon au post-humain“ (Paris: Vrin 2016) and „Cultura visuale. Immagini sguardi media dispositivi“ (with Antonio Somaini, Torino: Einaudi 2016).
